Due to the exceptionally dry spring conditions this year, Farmers Union Ditch Company will be implementing water conservation measures similar to those used in prior low-water years.
Beginning on the date of allocation — the point at which reservoir storage water must be utilized — canal flows will be reduced to approximately 80% of normal delivery. Based on current conditions, allocation could begin within the next few days.
The Ditch Riders will make the necessary adjustments at the headgates. All water users should begin planning now for reduced water availability.
● Subdivisions utilizing irrigation systems should develop and communicate watering rotation schedules to residents.
● Shareholders utilizing pumps should reduce pump intake accordingly.
● Cooperation and conservation efforts by all users will help extend available water supplies for the duration of the irrigation season.
Current water projections also indicate there is a possibility of an earlier-than-normal end to the irrigation season if dry conditions persist and available water supplies are exhausted sooner than anticipated.
